3rd Sunday of Advent

The third Sunday of Advent reminds us of the shepherds, the first witnesses to Jesus. They also model for us how how we should respond to Christ. The shepherds both told others about Christ and offered praise and thanksgiving to God for Christ. So should we.

Luke 2:17-20
When they had seen Him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them.
But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.
The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.

Prayer
O Lord Jesus Christ, who at Your first coming sent your messenger to prepare Your way, grant that the ministers and stewards of Your mysteries may likewise so prepare and make ready Your way, by turning the hearts of the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, that at Your second coming to judge the world we may be found an acceptable people in Your sight, who lives and reigns with the Father and the Holy Spirit ever, one God, world without end. Amen
